Drafts
Drafts let you change layout and content without affecting the live site. Publish to go live or discard to revert.
Drafts are only for PageGrid fields. Non-PageGrid fields (e.g. page title, custom fields) are not editable in draft mode and remain unchanged on the live page.
Creating a Draft
- Open a PageGrid page in the backend editor.
- Click the gear icon in the top navigation bar.
- Select Create Draft.
PAGEGRID clones your current PageGrid items into a draft and switches the editor to draft mode.
Working with a Draft
Once in draft mode a Draft status indicator appears in the top navigation bar (orange dot with "Draft" label). The editor now shows only PageGrid fields and auto-saves changes as you work.
Hover the Draft status indicator to access the draft menu:
| Action | Description |
|---|---|
| Switch to Live | Return to the live editor view |
| Publish Draft | Replace the live content with the draft |
| Discard Draft | Permanently delete the draft |
Publishing a Draft
When you publish a draft the draft content replaces the live content. A confirmation dialog is shown before publishing. This action cannot be undone.
Discarding a Draft
When you discard a draft it is permanently deleted. A confirmation dialog is shown before discarding. This action cannot be undone.
Permissions
The pagegrid-draft permission controls who can create and manage drafts. It is required for creating, publishing, and discarding drafts.
The permission is automatically assigned to the pagegrid-editor and pagegrid-designer roles on install. Users without this permission cannot access draft mode.
